Calendrier pour annoncer les événements artistiques ayant lieu à Montréal/Tiotia:ke/Moonyiang. On veut libérer l'information des plateformes capitalistes comme instagram et facebook, et créer des espaces alternatifs (physiques et virtuels) pour nos communautés.

Exemples de types d'événements : ateliers, cours, partage de connaissance, séances de dessin ou peinture (plein air, modèle vivant, etc), marchés d'art, événements de financement pour des causes sociales, événements sociaux pour la communauté, vernissages, expositions, lancements, conférences ou panels sur des sujets pertinents, opportunités, etc.

On essaie de garder le focus relativement limité. J'encourage les gens à créer leurs propres calendriers pour d'autres communautés ou d'autres villes! Ce calendrier est construit avec Gancio, qui est un logiciel très bien et pas trop compliqué à installer si vous avez un-e ami-e ou camarade un peu techno qui peut vous donner un coup de main avec le setup initial :)
Sentez vous libres de réutiliser ou adapter en tout ou en partie ces guidelines afin de créer votre propre calendrier.
Si vous prévoyez avoir régulièrement des événements à ajouter (parce que vous les organisez ou êtes très enthousiastes à propos du projet), svp contactez nous et on va trouver une manière de faciliter ça.

Calendar for art-related events happening in Montréal/Tiotia:ke/Moonyiang. We want to free information from capitalist platforms such as instagram and facebook, and build alternatives spaces (both physical and virtual) for our communities.

Some exemple events types : workshops, classes, skillsharing, drawing or painting sessions (plein air, figure drawing, etc), art markets or fairs, fundraising for social causes, community social events, vernissages, expositions, art book/zine launch, conferences or panels on relevant subjects, opportunities, etc.

We're trying to keep the scope relatively focused. You are encouraged to set up other calendars for different communities or cities! This calendar is built with Gancio, which is very good and not very hard to install if you have a tech-inclined friend or comrade who can help with initial setup :)
Feel free to reuse or adapt from these guidelines for your own calendar.
If you expect to regularily have things to add to this calendar (because you organise or host events or are simply enthusiastic about the project), please get in touch and I will make you an account.

Guidelines :

This calendar is for events happening in the Montréal/Tiotia:ke/Moonyiang area
Online events that are based in the local community are welcome, but please do not start adding all the online events in the world, as that would quickly outnumber the local ones.
We're not going to enforce a definition of art, but this calendar is mostly for events about visual arts and/or crafts. For example, this can include painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, fiber arts, art zines/books, photography, pottery, etc. This can also include other skills that are useful for artists. This is nothing against music or performing arts, etc, but we are worried that these would outnumber the rest.
You don't have to be organizing the events to add them. We want to liberate the information from walled communities such as instagram. If you're still spending time on these platforms, please help in liberating informations from there! You might not know everything about an event you're not organizing, but please make sure you share as much info as possible.
If you want to share an event that has been posted in a non public way (for example a private instagram account, or a discord server), verify with the organizer if it is okay to share it on a public website
Absolutely no AI generated content. No events promoting AI.
When adding an event, use the appropriate tags, or create new ones if you're missing the ones you need. Please do not forget accessibility info, language and price. Include the original link to the event if there is one. If the event you are adding is from a social media platform, make sure you copy all the info from the original post so that people dont need to go get it on the social media platform.
When adding an image to an event, make sure you write the alt text (click on "edit" after the image is added to see the Alt Text field). Make sure all the written information from the poster is available in text form, either in the Alt Text or in the description of the event.
This is a community ressource not an advertising platform :)
No events promoting or perpetuating racism, fascism, transphobia, homophobia and other forms of oppression.
Events submitted anonymously need to be approved manually by the admin(s). We're doing this on our own time, if it takes us a while to approve your event, be understanding!
